Bill
O'Donnell is one of
ROOTER-MAN's
experienced workers, holding a franchise for almost twenty years.
Originally, Bill worked as a manger, and had no knowledge about
the sewer and drain cleaning business previously. Finding that
he wanted to work for himself, he stumbled over ROOTER-MAN
in the Boston Globe. He has been involved ever since.
O'Donnell
believes the business makes a good living for him and his family,
in-spite of the hard work and seven day service. He said, "the
business keeps me active and on my toes."
ROOTER-MAN
is not a 9 to 5 job. It is open seven days a week, but Bill
looks at this in a positive light. Because he is the owner and
operator, Bill has the freedom to take any afternoon or day
off that he choices. As a manager Bill did not have this luxury.
This business caters to his life, where other jobs do not give
him this freedom.
Bill
loves the nature of his job. When asked what the average day
on the job was like: Bill said, "You never know what to expect.
This business is unpredictable." That is one of the interesting
parts of working for a sewer and drain cleaning business. Because
drain cleaners serve all denominations of people the possibilities
of situations are unpredictable.
Bill
did not jump into sewer and drain cleaning with experience.
In fact, before that ad in the Globe he never heard of it; however
he was able to buy a ROOTER-MAN
franchise and run it. I found this to be an interesting phenomenon
that a person with no pervious knowledge about the business
can successfully establish and run it. Bill the ability to connect
with each other, so no one is alone in the situation. Bill thinks
the franchise system is a positive thing because it gives him
enough independence that he is operating the business himself,
yet he has a support system.
Bill
expressed that the sewer and drain cleaning business in a secure
one. No matter how changes in society drain cleaning is a necessity
for people lives. He has been prosperous thus far and would
like to keep that his goal for the future.
